90 Second Escape: A winter walk in the woods

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: A Winter Walk in the Woods

Dreaming of a white Christmas? After three days of temperatures in the 70s? Well, good for you, because isn’t that what the season of believing is all about?

And to be sure, the temperature is forecast to cool to 40 for Christmas Day. As for snow, however, your best bet is to flash back to last February and take a 90 Second Escape with us on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail along Falls Lake. What began as a wet, cold hike, quickly and unexpectedly turned into walking through a winter wonderland.

Our virtual escape is as close as you’re likely to come in the next few days to the real thing. Bundle up and enjoy!
