90 Second Escape: Light, and its many moods

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: Light, and its Many Moods

Think about the the highlights of your forays into the wild, the things that bubble to the top when you recount an outing to friends, and the obvious comes to mind: temperature, terrain, who you hiked with, wildlife. Your recollections of all those, though, are colored by one thing: light. Sunlight illuminating a pool on a small creek, or casting long shadows at the end of the day. A cloudless day atop a bald after a cold front has moved through, everything crystal clear for miles. A spring wildflower dancing in a light breeze, reflecting the sun it will soon lose to a leafed-out canopy.

Here’s a 90 Second salute to light and how it’s colored some of our recent adventures.
