Where to paddle: Wilmington

Barrier islands make a great coastal destination.

You’d expect great paddling in Wilmington, so it comes as no surprise that the kayaker here is richly rewarded. Like the sounds and marshes? Then you’ll love Masonboro Island and Zeke’s Island. How about an unlikely loop paddle trail, a 16-mile loop paddle trail? Get tight with the intimate Town Creek or go back in time on the Black River.
