Its this sort of news that makes the sting of leaving all the available biking in Tucson less painful. I cant wait to show friends from there some of the awesome stretches out here! It is heartening that these projects have gone forward amidst the downturn in the economy. Hopefully Joe has good news to share about future greenways!

The growth is never fast enough for any of us. But as Vic noted yesterday, Raleigh currently has $35 million in greenway projects underway: "I don't know of anyplace that has that much going on." More updates and more about the future next week.

That is exciting. Every day my commute takes me over the greenway, and someday it will take me on the greenway, but I hadn't seen much progress lately. Now I know why. Although saying it isn't late because it could still be done by the end of June is a pretty optimistic spin on it. House Creek Greenway has seen so many projected dates come and go that I've lost track. Memorial Day may be a month early than the most recent completion date, but it's months after the last completion date and years after the first completion date I saw. But I have to give Vic and crew credit. While it'll never be fast enough for me, they greenway system just keeps on growing. And while House Creek is the stretch I'm most anxiously awaiting, I think it's the Nuese River connection that's going to have the biggest impact. It just gets bigger and better.
