As it turns out, my bike had been gathering dust in the basement for a while and I was out of shape (side effects of having young kids). The first half of the ride went great as we warmed up on the easy side. Once we crossed over to the whoop-de-dos it got really ugly. I spent some time walking the whoop-de-dos and sitting on downed trees to catch my breath. Despite that, we rode again… many years later after I got back in shape!
