Welcome to our GetHiking! Spring Beginner Hike Series, a great way for newcomers to start hiking and launch a more active lifestyle. Our Spring Hike Series visits eight trails in the Triangle to sample some of the best hiking around.

What: Eight Sunday afternoon hikes on trails throughout the Triangle. We hike at a relaxed pace (between 2 and 2.5 mph) and start with shorter hikes (1.5 miles) leading up to 5.7 miles.

When: Sundays beginning March 8 and ending April 26. All hikes start at 1 p.m..

Includes: Weekly enewsletter with tips, resources, gear recommendations, and details on the week’s hikes; guide to 25 Triangle Trails, tip sheets for hikers just getting started.

Cost: $150 for couples and families.

March 15   Harris Lake County Park, Apex, 3 miles

March 22 Mountains-to-Sea Trail at Falls Lake, Section M, Durham, 3.2 miles

March 29  Horton Grove Nature Preserve, northern Durham County, 3.4 miles

April 5 New! Mountains-to-Sea Trail at Falls Lake: Section P, Durham, 4.5 miles

April 12   Duke Forest, Korstian Division (Gate 23),  3.5 miles

April 19 Schenck Forest / Umstead State Park, Raleigh, 4 miles

April 26 Mountains-to-Sea Trail, Durham, 5.7 miles
