Welcome to our 2022 Winter Hike Series for the Aspiring Hiker, a great way for newcomers to launch a more active lifestyle while enjoying the many health benefits of moving in nature. Our Winter Hike Series visits 11 trails in the Triangle to sample some of the best hiking around.
What: Ten Sunday afternoon hikes on trails throughout the Triangle.
The hikes: We hike a relaxed, beginner-friendly pace — between 2 and 2.5 mph — on trails ranging from 2 miles (at the beginning) to 5 miles (at the end).
When: Sundays beginning Feb. 6 and ending April 10. The hikes begin at 1 p.m.
Includes: In addition to 10 hikes:
- Kick-off Zoom meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. to discuss how the hikes will work, what gear you’ll need, how-to-dress and more
- Weekly enewsletter with tips, resources, gear recommendations, and a guide for that week’s hike
- Guide to 25 Triangle Trails
- “Let’s GetHiking! A Quick and Comprehensive Guide for the Aspiring Hiker (Second Edition),” a 109-page guide with everything an aspiring hiker needs to know. (The book will be mailed to you upon registration.)
Hiker limit: To insure you you don’t get lost in the crowd, this program is limited to 10 hikers.
