]]> Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: The Campfire

When contemplating the many joys of camping, it’s hard to know where to start. We’ve been reminded of this the past few days as we prepare for an Intro to Car Camping clinic we’re putting on Wednesday evening at the Great Outdoor Provision Co. in Raleigh’s Cameron Village shopping center.

The clean air, the cool nights, the camaraderie. And, of course, The Campfire. Today, we celebrate the calming, mesmerizing, primal effects of watching sitting around a mound of fire in the dark.
