To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Our GetHiking! Southeast’s Classic Hikes crew spent this past weekend hiking the Standing Indian Area of the Nantahala National Forest southwest of Franklin. While much of the rest of the state broiled in temperatures in the mid-90s, our crew enjoyed mountain-top temperatures in the 70s and a refreshing dip back at the campsite.
