Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: Off-Trail at Stone Mountain State Park

Temperatures suitable for hiking — as opposed to barbecuing flesh — are returning. With forecast highs in the low 80s, at least in the Piedmont, through the week, it’s safe to actually start thinking about a return to the great outdoors.

We’ll jump-start that process on this, the last day of steamy weather, with an off-trail trek at Stone Mountain State Park with hike leader extraordinaire Steve Martin, with the Triad Hiking & Outdoors Group.
