90 Second Escape: Paddling the Haw River

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: Paddling the Haw River

In the dead of summer when nearly all the local rivers are running low, you can always find water on the damed stretch of the Haw River upstream from Saxapahaw to Swepsonville. It’s a 5.7-mile run that may be short on thrills, but you can’t beat it for relaxing escape.

Tag along and see what we mean.

  1. Nice video and a great idea, like anyone I find it hard to get beck into the tedium of the working week and would much rather be outdoors doing something. Happily i have just bought a video camera and I am looking forward to the first video. Now its just a question of where to go next weekend.
