Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: Paddling into summer
We get a tease of hot weather — we break out the Chacos, take a run in shorts and a t-shirt — then it’s back to long pants and deciding on the right fleece. Oh well, hot weather will establish itself. Eventually.
Until then, we must engage in fantasy. Here’s 90 Seconds worth, on a paddle escape to Lake Wheeler from those hazy, crazy, lazy days of summer.
And keep in mind that if you aren’t a cool weather paddler, you can always plan ahead. You can find a spot to paddle near one of seven metro areas in North Carolina here, and you can find 44 places to rent a canoe or kayak in North Carolina here.
