Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: Winter’s Insightful Hiking Companion.
Sometimes when we go for a hike we’re looking to clear our mind, to find answers to, as Guy Noir would say, life’s persistent questions. The mix of solitude and motion is good for shaking out the old and stagnant so that the new and vibrant can move in. Open your mind a little more, advises Chinese philosopher Chuang-Tse, and “You will always find an answer in the sound of water.”
Ready for some answers on this, the first full week of 2013? Here are 90 seconds worth.
