Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: A Labor Day Weekend Hike.
Officially, according to the calendar, 18 days remain until fall. But unofficially and in our hearts and minds Labor Day Weekend marks the transition from summer to fall. On the one hand, you have a last hurrah at the beach, on the other you have the start of football — and the hiking season. And while the weather this past weekend was hardly conducive to either, our Ultimate Hike group still felt compelled to get out and celebrate the transition with a hike.
Spend 90 seconds on the trail with us, at Umstead State Park on Sunday. All the scenic glory, none of the slippery sweat.
