Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: A Hike into Winter
The hike started in a cold rain. Kinda miserable, really. But over a half hour or so it evolved into a walk into winter as the rain gave way to a gentle snow. It was 10 miles to remember on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail along Falls Lake north of Raleigh, a rare opportunity in these parts to truly feel like a hearty winter hiker.
Strap on your Yaktrax for what, hopefully, will be your last 90 seconds of winter for the season.

Hey man- thank you for that- beautiful! I love the way falling snow hushes everything. Here’s hoping we get one good snow this year!
I wouldn’t be surprised if we do. Best thing about this snow was that it started as a miserably cold rain … and evolved.
