90 Second Escape: Morning hike

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: Early morning hike

The urge to start hiking again usually kicks in before the weather is ready to cooperate. Call me a fair weather hiker, but when I can’t see because sweat is stinging my eyes and my flailing arms are blocking the view anyway as they try to clear the curtain of cobwebs crossing the trail, then the experience is diminished.

Before those first cooling days of September sweep through the region, though, there is one option for partial respite: the early morning hike. True, the handiwork of spiders is still an issue, but being part of the world coming to life more than compensates.

Dipping into the archive one more time, GetGoingNC brings you 90 seconds of a morning hike, this one along Falls Lake.

Enjoy.
