Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: Running Water.
“Tranquility Fountains” or “Calming Fountains” are often installed in otherwise stressful locales (hospitals and doctor’s offices) to help settle the nerves. Must be the sound, because they aren’t that much to look at. Rather, to settle our Monday-jangled psyche we like to sidle up to a frisky creek and let it wash over us, metaphorically speaking.
Today, take 90 seconds and let the Chattooga, Horsepasture and Whitewater rivers along the Foothills Trail of North and South Carolina wash over you. All the serenity, none of the splash.
