90 Second Escape: Scenes from a hike

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: Scenes from a Hike

Can any hike be considered a “typical” hike? Only in the sense that you can count on the atypical happening: a flooded trail that needs to be forded, a tree blocking the trail that needs to be removed with the help of a portable saw, a maggot that engages you in a staredown … . It’s all part of a day on the trail — in this case, a day on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail along Falls Lake, with GetHiking! Triangle.
