Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: Last Day of Winter, at Doughton Park
Winter didn’t exactly leave without a fight this year. After suggesting it was willing to leave early midweek with the temperature hitting the mid 80s, it regained its identity on its final day.
At Doughton Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway the temperature didn’t budge from near 40 on Saturday. It was gray, overcast. But the threatened rain failed to materialize, making for a fitting end of the season, for our GetHiking! Southeast’s Classic Hikes crew.
Some scenes from Winter’s last hurrah.
