Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: Scenes from a hike
Labor Day officially marks the start of the fall hiking season in the Southeast. To get you in the mood, today we share scenes from the trail.
If you’re new to hiking but excited about getting started, two things:
- Check out our 5 Fall Hikes to Rediscover Your Hiking Legs, which we wrote for our friends at Great Outdoor Provision Co. Good options throughout the Piedmont for easing into those longer, more challenging hikes in the mountains that will beckon when the chloroplasts begin losing chlorophylls.
- Keep an eye on this space for details on Hike NC, a statewide beginner hiking program we’re launching this fall with BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina.
For the present, though, a minute and a half of virtual hiking will have to suffice.
