Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: GetBackpacking! Along the Eno River
Sunday was that day of late summer we always look forward to, the day that brings us our first hint of fall. That day came on Sunday, Sept. 14, this year. We felt it on a backpack training hike along the Eno River. A light gust swept down from the ridge, a gust that made us think of long-sleeve shirts and long pants for the first time in a long time. A gust that said, “Get ready to start spending more time on the trail.” A welcome whisper of cool air that already has us getting out the maps and planning for next weekend.
