Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: GetBackpacking! at South Mountains State Park
Content from GetBackpacking! at South Mountains State Park
This weekend, our first GetBackpacking! class graduated with a three-day trip to South Mountains State Park. It couldn’t have been a better weekend for backcountry commencement, it couldn’t have been a more deserving group of graduates.
I’ll write more about the experience later in the week. (In the meantime, if you’re curious about the GetBackpacking! program, you can learn more here.)
For now, take 90 seconds or so to see what life is like on the trail for roughly 48 hours. We’re guessing you can’t wait to strap 30 pounds on your back and join us.
And even if you’re still content with day hikes, you’ll want to know more about South Mountains State Park, at 18,000 acres the biggest in the North Carolina State Parks system, and one of the most under-appreciated. After the show, learn more about South Mountains here.
