90 Second Escape: Green River Narrows

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

As we wrap up our first year of exploring North Carolina’s Classic Hikes, our thoughts turned to other iconic adventure spots in the state. That took us back to 2012, when we tagged along on a hike out of Asheville to the Green River gorge. The hike itself was great; the cherry on top was watching some elite kayakers tackle some of the gnarliest whitewater in the East, a series of rapids through the gorge, including the Class V Gorilla.

Here’s a flashback to that day and a reminder of North Carolina’s impressive adventure resume.
