90 Second Escape: A hint of fall

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: A hint of fall

Did you feel it? This morning, when you walked out the door, a whisper of cool air. Not goosebump cool. But just enough of a change from this relentless summer heat&humidity to suggest that fall is on the way. We’re not done with the heat; we’ll have more days of 90/90, to be sure. But walking out the front door at 7 a.m. to a breeze pushing temperatures in the upper 60s … that is a sign of things to soon come.

We’ve reached into the archive to provide you a peek into early fall hiking to help get you in the mood for fall hiking. Note the tinge of color in the canopy, the crisp blue skies, the long sleeves.

It’s time to start thinking about getting back on the trail.
