90 Second Escape: Goin’ Off Trail

Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.

Today’s 90-Second Escape: Going Off Trail

One of the reasons we admire dogs: when they’re in the woods, if they see something they make a bee-line to go investigate. Us? We look pensively at the blazed trail we’re on, then at the shinny thing we want to investigate, then back to the trail. We get angsty, we wimper. Can we possibly leave the safety of the blazed trail? More than likely, we stay on the trail, rule-followers that we tend to be. Meanwhile, Spot is cavorting through the forest, tail in full wag, living in the moment.

Wouldn’t you rather have your tail in full wag?

Today, we offer a 90 Second insight into going rogue, into following your tail and going off trail. Tomorrow, we offer tips on how to safely explore sans blazed trail.
