Monday — never an easy time for the outdoors enthusiast. After a weekend of adventure, returning to the humdrum work-a-day world can make one melancholy. To help ease the transition, every Monday we feature a 90 Second Escape — essentially, a 90-second video or slide show of a place you’d probably rather be: a trail, a park, a greenway, a lake … anywhere as long as it’s not under a fluorescent bulb.
Today’s 90-Second Escape: Summer’s Numbers Game
There comes a time in the summer when, no matter how efficient you’ve been with your weekend’s and vacation time, you realize you simply won’t be able to do everything on your list. For us, that one thing that won’t get done: a visit to Linville Gorge.
Rather than mope about the cruelties of passing time, I try to assuage my opportunities to be missed with the next best thing: I revisit a previous visit. So, today, for myself and the rest of you who may not be making it to Linville Gorge this weekend, a virtual visit based on an actual visit from spring 2015.
