Coast: ‘We LOVE Frogs!!!’
For everyone who is either boycotting the spirit of this weekend’s holiday, or who is single and ready to mingle, hop on over to Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve, and take part in the kick-off event of the Disappearing Frogs Project. This new project is aimed at raising awareness for the alarming disappearance of frogs and other amphibians. Various DFP observances will be held at Weymouth Woods through February; this event will focus on learning about the different species of frogs (and toads) of the Sandhills.read more

If you need a reason to run, you won’t find a much better one than Saturday’s Run, Roll & Stroll 5K, 10K and 1-mile fun run in downtown Wilmington. The reason? The race benefits Purple Heart Homes, whose goal is to “help reintegrate veterans into the community, and to proudly acknowledge the sacrifice they have made on our country’s behalf. Whether it is adapting an already owned home, building a home from the ground up, or adapting and modifying a foreclosed home, Purple Heart Homes is committed to guiding the veteran through the entire process.”read more

If you two have stayed active over the winter, you may be interested in the 10K race. If you haven’t but crave a challenge, consider the 5K. And if the two of you are on the couch looking at each other thinking, “We really should do this; it would be good for us,” but neither of you are making a move to register, there’s always the 1-mile fun run/walk.read more
